## What happens if a hotel fails AAA's inspection?

If a hotel fails to meet AAA’s baseline standards during an inspection, several outcomes are possible. A property seeking its initial Diamond designation will not be listed on AAA’s travel platforms if it does not pass. For hotels that already hold a Diamond designation, failing an inspection may result in the property being downgraded to a more appropriate tier or losing its designation entirely if it no longer meets minimum standards. Hotels are typically given the opportunity to correct identified deficiencies and request a re‑inspection. Common causes of inspection failure include cleanliness problems, deferred maintenance, malfunctioning amenities, and service shortcomings. Properties that do not meet ATP cleanliness requirements will also be ineligible for the Inspected Clean designation.
