AAA inspectors focus on eight key high‑touch surfaces in a hotel room when conducting ATP testing. These typically include: Guest room door handle and bathroom door handle Light switches and thermostat controls Television remote (one of the most frequently handled items) Desk or tabletop surface Mini‑fridge handle (if present) Bathroom faucet handles and the toilet flush handle Hair dryer handle and vanity countertop These surfaces represent the areas most likely to harbor bacteria or residue if not properly cleaned. By swabbing a sample of these touchpoints, the inspector gains an objective snapshot of the room’s overall cleanliness. To pass the Inspected Clean criteria, at least 6 of the 8 surfaces (75%) must fall below AAA’s ATP cleanliness threshold.
