## What is the AAA Diamond Program?

The AAA Diamond Program is a long‑standing professional evaluation system for hotels and restaurants, conducted by trained AAA inspectors through in‑person, unannounced visits. Unlike star ratings or online reviews, Diamond designations are based on consistent, independent assessments of cleanliness, comfort, and hospitality. AAA assigns one of four designations: Approved – Entry level; properties meet essential quality and cleanliness standards. (This category absorbed the former One and Two Diamond levels in 2020.) Three Diamond – More style, comfort, and services. Four Diamond – Refined, upscale properties with elevated amenities and service. Five Diamond – World‑class luxury, exceptional quality, and highly personalized service. The program has operated for more than 88 years and today covers over 25,000 hotels across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Costa Rica, as well as approximately 8,500 restaurants.
