These evaluations are unannounced, ensuring inspectors experience the property in its normal operating conditions rather than a staged environment. This approach supports a fair and accurate assessment of the hotel's ongoing performance. The annual inspection cycle allows AAA to verify that each property continues to meet the standards required for its current Diamond designation. If quality or service levels decline, the designation may be adjusted. Likewise, properties that enhance their facilities, amenities, or service delivery may qualify for a higher Diamond designation during subsequent inspections.
