Thank you, Gary, for your kind words and prayers. This has been a very difficult time, certainly the most difficult of my Christian life. And yet, with the confidence of the truthfulness of the gospel, and the commitment Bob had to that gospel, I truly can rejoice that he has "gone to his reward" -- and with the fast pace at which he lived his life for Jesus, that reward must be great. When we look at history from God's perspective instead of our own, we are humbled by the tiny speck any one of our lives makes in God's grand scheme, and yet blessed to know that God has chosen to use US -- Bob, you, me, every Christian -- as his primary means for advancing His kingdom. Thank you for being a dilligent warrior in the King's army, and for remembering one who has gone on.
: I was shocked when I learned today (Jan. 8, 2004) that Bob had died. Every time I spoke with Bob (with you often on the extension), I could hardly keep up with his rapid-fire questions and answers (usually his own) thinking through an issue as we spoke. After hanging up, I noticed that I was smiling, not something I normally find myself doing in this day of sloppy-thinking Christians. Of course, I can say I will miss him, but knowing your love and care for him, it would only be an understatement of his life and work. Continue to honor Bob by continuing your work.
