Dear Pastor Aadland,
When I see the many Lutherans (you and we are part of the AALC association) who exhibit genuine faithfulness to the gospel of our Lord, I wonder that so few American Christians have discovered the wonderful blend of tradition and new life that is at the heart of Lutheran theology. Sadly, as in most church associations or denominations, there are many congregations clinging to the form of worship without genuine worship. That's why Bob and I were particularly excited about the AALC seminary retreat and our privilege to participate in it.
Feel free to ask your questions even though Bob is now worshipping at a different address. With our Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers, we are committed to continuing -- even expanding -- the ministry of Answers In Action. It's a tribute to the huge invetment Bob made in so many lives for God's kingdom.
I look forward to hearing from you again.
: Dear Gretchen,
: I had attempted to call yesterday, using an old number, just wanting to talk with you and Bob about a matter of Christian apologetics. This evening, I checked the website and was so saddened there first to learn of Bob's passing.
: I remember fondly the warm reception you gave me two years ago next month, when Prince of Peace hosted the first retreat for our seminarians and their families. I think he experienced some physical difficulties in getting around then, but Bob was eager to join in the teaching and the give and take of question and answer.
: The title chosen by my professor at Wheaton College, Clyde Kilby, for his anthology of writings by C. S. Lewis could well apply to Bob -- A Mind Awake. He had a clear and forthright but kind and winsome manner in commending the Christian faith to others. I know he loved his Savior.
: I shall have to wait for the call of the trump and the Day of resurrection to talk with Bob once more. Then all minds gathered round Aslan's great banquet table will be fully awake. What a thrilling conversation that will be! May the peace which the world can neither give nor take away keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
: Love in Christ,
: Pastor Tom Aadland
