I wanted to let you know that the memorial service for Bob was perfectójust as he would have wanted it. And, depending on how much our departed Christian loved ones in the intermediate state know about what is going on down here, it is certainly possible that he actually got quite a kick out of it!
You know, when Kurt Van Gorden called me with the news, my initial reaction was to think about how tragic it is to lose someone so dear and so vital to the cause of Christ at such a young age. But as Iíve thought about it, Iíve realized that Bobís ďprocessorĒ ran at twice the clock speed as the rest of ours, and so he accomplished more for the Lord in his time than most of us will if we should make it past 100! All of the testimonies at the memorial service only cemented that impression. It has really made me think about whether I make every minute count like Bob did. (I donít.) He is quite an inspiration to me.
I have so many good memories of Bob that thereís no way I could recount them all here. He combined intellect and heart in an admirable way. I know Iíll really miss him, as will we all. But Iíll simply recall here something my cousin told me at my momís passing at a fairly early age. Rather than ask why God chose to take someone we loved so much seemingly before his time, we should inquire rather as to why would God bless us by giving us the years he did with someone so precious and special. Knowing Bob as a friend was a privilege and Iíll always be grateful for it.
With much love,
