I know a lot of apologists. Each one has his own area of expertise and set of strengths. When confronted by a particularly difficult opponent the practical thing to do is to seek assistance from the appropriate expert. But, like so many others, I quickly learned it was easiest to just call Bob. Bob was the whole package. Not only could he track any opponent to the Christian faith, he was always five steps ahead of them.

I realize now that he made me a better apologist. I was bolder and took on more challenges because I knew Bob was there to back me up if I got in over my head.

I went for a walk in the forest after the recent fires. The forest is very different without the trees, a much poorer place. But soon new seedlings will sprout, new trees will grow, and the forest will be rich and beautiful again. Today the world feels very different without Bob. Again it is a poorer place. But Bob planted a lot of seeds. They will grow, and the world will be richer and more beautiful because of him.

Bob, thank you for the strength and encouragement you have given me. Thank you for the example you have set for me. Thank you for raising the bar for all of us who aspire to be good apologists.

I love you my friend, and I will carry on the work until I see you again.

Gretchen, in the coming days you will see Godís hand in all of this. May He continue to give you and your family grace and peace.

Love,
Russ & Darlene Manion
