It was so wonderful knowing Bob was "there". If there was any question, any tough issue,I knew I could send anyone to him, and he would talk with them, would like them, wouldn't burn any bridge, but would be a great example of Jesus Christ. He was always patient when working through any Biblical issues...no matter how many times I didn't grasp something, rather than get frustrated or mad or shun me because I wasn't an intellectual equal, he'd just view it as a challenge and try to figure out a way to help me understand through another avenue. There are very few Christian professors or pastors who want to spend the time of day with their audiences, who care, and that's what made Bob special. He did care. He did spend the time of day. And because of that, he represented Christ to me.
I knew he wasn't optimistic about his health, so I had some time to prepare mentally for this a bit, but I really expected God to just work miracles with his body because Bob was soooooo gifted and so needed. But God is wise, so I rest in His character, that He knows what He's doing. And just think how happy Bob is right now with all the new stuff he is learning!! Those of us who believe Jesus died and rose for our sins will see Bob again.
God bless you Gretchen, Mary, Karen, Paul, Mrs. Passantino, and all those family and friends who are grieving...
My Love,
Paula Popejoy
