Dear Gretchen and Family,
I would like to extend my condolences to you all. I know the resurrection is real, but so is earthly grief and no one can minimize it. You have my sypathy and prayers as you begin a new chapter of your life. May you not walk through it alone.
I met you and your husband when you taught a little one unit class at Biola a few years ago. I remember what a team you were and was a bit defeated by how smart you were. I had started the Christian Apologetics program to grow for myself and my family and it seemed that everyone, but me, was a genius. I don't know if you remember, but I asked you both about that in class. How could normal people do this? And you, as a team, told Bob's story of difficlties in school, when he learned to read, etc. Hard to believe, but it was nice to know normal people could achieve, too and at one time you both were like me. It was also nice to meet Lutherans, having just joined a Lutheran church.
I had hoped to do an internship with you when the time came in order to learn anything I could, frankly. Since that class I had become aware of your work and wanted to learn about all kinds of things. That time may never come, but I am glad I became familiar with you as regular people first during that time at Biola. The most important thing I learned, was that anyone can achieve something for God, even me.
