That was the first thing I thought when I read the news. Because, you see, you were always supposed to be there. You and Gretchen were some of the few people I really trusted. You never laughed at my questions, unless I wanted you to, and you were always respectful of differing points of view of scripture. Always asking people to search it through and ask questions.
I can't tell you how your death affected me, but you do know how your life affected me, at least you do now. I can't wait to hear your laugh again when we are all together. But for now I'll have to be content with the memories of all those many years ago.
I love you Bob and Gretchen. May God hold you, Mary, Karen and Paul tightly at this time so the grief will be minimal and the laughter and memories great.
