Bob was a great buddy. Apparently to lots of people. I remember going with him to a hotel to talk to Winkie Pratney and a friend of Winkie's. Bob wanted to talk Winkie out of some wacky views (can't remember which ones), and the thing that struck me was how positively fearless Bob was - he was indeed a bull-dog, but in a friendly, disarming, almost naive way. When Winkie obfuscated when pressed, ... "Well, people interpret things in different ways ... who are we to say ...", etc., Bob didn't drop a beat, just pressed on. He won Winkie over both with his sincerity and guilelessness, and with his passion for truth. He wasn't afraid to look stupid. He's the guy I would want to have at my side in tough situations.

Also, several nights sitting up late at night and talking apologetics. Bob and Gretchen reached out to me when nobody else either could or would. I love them both.
