There are two situations that stand out in my mind. It was Thanksgiving 1982, if my memory serves me correctly, Bob walked into the kitchen with a hand full of books. He said that these books were his reading for the day.
I had attended one of the Passantino’s “How to Study” courses. Bob told a story regarding his experience in taking an engineering course. Bob knew little about engineering; however, all he had to do was pass the course to keep his job. Bob did well in the course because he knew how to study. The engineers and the instructor were impressed with Bob.
Now, the engineers in the course were told that who ever had the lowest score in the course would lose their job. Bob deliberately got a score high enough to keep his job and low enough to have the lowest score in the course. No one in the class lost his job because of Bob’s smart move.
I hope I told the last situation accurately.
I love the way Bob and Gretchen played off of each other’s words when giving a presentation. I witnessed this for just about three times that I attended their bible study on Friday nights and one afternoon at their home for a special activity. These are those brief moments with the Passantinos that I will always thank God for. He allowed me to have some moments of my life with Bob and Gretchen. As He said in Psalms 139:18: “And in Your Book were all written the days that were ordained for me…”
Thank You, Heavenly Father for those times with Bob. Thank You for honoring me with a glimpse of this very wise man and his equally wise wife.
